First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested a new, non-surgical procedure called Gastric Mucosal Ablation (GMA) to help people with obesity lose weight. The procedure uses a special tool to remove a thin layer of stomach tissue, which may affect hormones that control weight. Fifteen adults with a BMI between 30 and 45 took part, and researchers tracked their weight loss for 6 months after treatment to see if the method is safe and effective.
