Major trial tests vaccine to block Cancer-Linked oral HPV in HIV-Positive men

NCT ID NCT04255849

Summary

This study is testing whether the 9-valent HPV vaccine can prevent persistent oral HPV infections in men living with HIV. It involves 700 adult men in Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Brazil who will receive either the real vaccine or a placebo. The goal is to see if vaccination can stop the virus from taking hold in the mouth, which could lower the risk of developing HPV-related throat cancer.
