First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study tested whether the HPV vaccine can reduce high-grade cervical lesions (precancerous changes) in 536 women living with HIV. Participants received either the HPV vaccine or a placebo, and researchers tracked new lesions over one to two years. The goal was to see if the vaccine helps the immune system fight HPV and prevent cervical cancer in this high-risk group.
