Could less radiation be enough? new study tailors treatment for HPV+ throat cancer

NCT ID NCT03215719

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study is for people with HPV-positive throat cancer. It tests whether doctors can safely lower the radiation dose during treatment if the tumor shrinks quickly and a blood test shows the cancer virus is clearing. The goal is to see if a lower dose still prevents the cancer from coming back for at least 2 years, while reducing side effects. About 120 participants will be enrolled.
