New CO2 test may help ER doctors quickly spot Fluid-Related breathing trouble

NCT ID NCT06556797

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study looks at whether measuring the difference between two types of CO2 levels (from a blood test and a skin sensor) can help emergency doctors figure out if a patient's shortness of breath is caused by fluid buildup in the lungs or something else. About 45 adults with sudden breathing trouble will be tested within an hour of arriving at the ER. The goal is to improve diagnosis speed and accuracy.
