Gut germs hold key to personalized drug dosing, study finds
NCT ID NCT05065671
First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at how the bacteria living in our guts can change the way drugs work in the body. Researchers gave 17 healthy adults certain drugs known to be broken down by gut microbes and measured how the drugs moved through their blood. The goal was to confirm that lab tests can predict these effects in real people, which could one day help doctors choose the right dose for each patient based on their unique gut bacteria.
