Weight-Loss surgery may rewire social experiences, study finds

NCT ID NCT05207917

First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at how two types of weight-loss surgery—gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy—affect people's social experiences and feelings of well-being. About 113 adults scheduled for surgery will track their daily social interactions and mood for two weeks, both before and after surgery. Researchers want to see if changes in body image, reward sensitivity, and gut hormones play a role in how people connect with others.
