Do hourly ICU brain checks harm thinking? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06219889

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 31 times

Summary

This study looks at whether frequent neurological checks in the ICU disrupt sleep and worsen confusion (delirium) in older adults with a brain bleed. Researchers will compare checks every hour versus every two hours in 120 patients. The goal is to see if less frequent checks can reduce delirium and protect long-term thinking.
