Could your menstrual cycle change how well OCD therapy works?

NCT ID NCT05359562

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looks at how natural hormone changes during a woman's menstrual cycle might affect a type of therapy called exposure and response prevention (EX/RP) for obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Researchers will give therapy to 120 adults with OCD, including women at different points in their cycle, and use brain scans to see how hormones influence fear-related brain activity and OCD symptoms. The goal is to learn if timing therapy with the menstrual cycle could improve results.
