Blood test may reveal who loses most weight after obesity surgery
NCT ID NCT07564973
First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a blood test measuring the balance of two hormones, adiponectin and leptin, can predict weight loss after sleeve gastrectomy surgery for severe obesity. Researchers followed 78 adults for 8 months after surgery to see if the hormone ratio was linked to how much weight they lost. The goal is to help doctors identify who will benefit most from surgery and guide others toward different treatments.
