Could ALS patients skip the hospital for breathing help?

NCT ID NCT05829330

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether people with ALS can start using a breathing machine (non-invasive ventilation) at home instead of being admitted to the hospital. 46 adults with ALS who need breathing support will be randomly assigned to start at home with remote monitoring or in the hospital. The goal is to see if home initiation works just as well and improves patient satisfaction.
