Can a finger prick replace the needle? new study tests home blood monitoring for diabetes

NCT ID NCT06695325

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with diabetes can collect their own blood at home for key tests (HbA1c, cholesterol, thyroid) as accurately as having blood drawn by a professional in a clinic. 300 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes will try either a finger prick or a device on their upper arm, both in the clinic and at home. The goal is to see if home testing is accurate, convenient, and cost-effective, potentially reducing the need for clinic visits.
