Heart surgery patients may soon swab their own wounds at home

NCT ID NCT07200401

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people who have had heart surgery can safely and effectively collect a swab from their chest wound at home. About 40 adults will try self-swabbing using a special kit and video guidance. The goal is to see if this approach is acceptable, safe, and could save money by reducing hospital visits for wound checks.
