Summary
This study tested whether having a dental professional clean the teeth of older adults in their own homes every three months, combined with a special high-fluoride toothpaste, could prevent root cavities. The study included 194 adults aged 65 and older who needed daily care. Researchers compared their oral health to a group receiving usual care, measuring cavities, gum health, and quality of life after one year.
