First seen Jun 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether a 6-week, caregiver-assisted breathing program done at home with remote coaching is practical and helpful for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Twelve children will do breathing exercises, airway clearance, and relaxation techniques at least 5 times a week. Researchers will measure how well families stick with the program and whether it improves breathing strength.

What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Home-based respiratory telerehabilitation program (breathing exercises, airway clearance, relaxation techniques)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a convenient, caregiver-led way to help children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy maintain or improve their breathing at home.
What could go wrong
This is a very small, early feasibility study with only 12 children, so results may not apply to everyone. The program relies on caregiver support and may not work for all families.
