Air purifiers tested as lung aid for COPD patients

NCT ID NCT04252235

First seen Mar 06, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using a HEPA air purifier at home can improve lung health in adults with a type of COPD called eosinophilic COPD. 178 people took part; half received real purifiers and half received fake ones. The main goal was to see if the purifiers helped increase the amount of air they could exhale in one second, a key measure of lung function.
