HIV vaccine candidate passes early safety test in 127 volunteers

NCT ID NCT04177355

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 36 times

Summary

This study tested an experimental HIV vaccine in 127 healthy, HIV-negative adults to see if it was safe and could trigger an immune response. Participants received different combinations of the vaccine with adjuvants (ingredients that boost the immune system). The main goal was to check for side effects and see how the body reacted. This is an early step toward developing a vaccine to prevent HIV infection.
