Scientists test if One-Time antibody shot lets HIV patients live without daily pills

NCT ID NCT04860323

Summary

This study tested whether people who received an experimental antibody (VRC01) before getting HIV could better control the virus without needing daily medication. Thirteen participants who had been taking HIV drugs for at least a year temporarily stopped their medication under very close medical supervision. Researchers monitored their health and virus levels to see if their immune systems could keep HIV in check on their own, which would indicate the antibody provided lasting benefit.
