Nurses take HIV tests themselves to fight stigma

NCT ID NCT05615935

Summary

This study tested whether giving emergency department nurses a personal experience with HIV testing could improve their knowledge and reduce stigma toward HIV patients. About 74 nurses in Taiwan were randomly assigned to either receive standard training materials or also undergo a real HIV test with counseling. Researchers measured changes in their knowledge, testing practices, and attitudes one month later to see if the hands-on experience made a difference.
