HIV patients ditch daily pills for shots in landmark switch study
NCT ID NCT07579546
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study will follow 200 people with HIV who are already virally suppressed to see how many stay on a long-acting injectable treatment (cabotegravir and rilpivirine) given every 2 months instead of daily pills. The goal is to measure how many continue the shots without stopping or needing to switch back after 48 weeks. The research aims to show whether this simpler option works well in real-life patients who have been on HIV medication for many years.
