Could a shot every 6 months replace daily HIV pills?
NCT ID NCT05729568
First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of two lab-made antibodies (teropavimab and zinlirvimab) plus the drug lenacapavir, given as injections every 6 months, can keep HIV under control in adults whose virus is already suppressed by daily pills. About 83 participants will either switch to the long-acting shots or stay on their current oral medications. The main goal is to see if the new regimen prevents the virus from rebounding at 26 weeks. This is not a cure—people would still need ongoing treatment—but it could offer a convenient alternative to daily pills.
