Researchers track HIV drugs from mom to baby through breastmilk

NCT ID NCT05642481

Summary

This study aimed to understand how much HIV medication passes from a mother to her baby through breastmilk. Researchers measured drug levels in the blood and breastmilk of 16 mothers with HIV who chose to breastfeed while on treatment. The goal was to calculate the amount of medication the infants were exposed to, which helps inform safety guidelines for breastfeeding with HIV.
