First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study tested a treatment for cancer that has spread inside the abdomen (peritoneal carcinosis). It combined surgery to remove visible tumors with heated chemotherapy drugs (mitomycin C and irinotecan) pumped directly into the abdomen during the operation. The goal was to find the safest drug dose and see how well patients tolerated the procedure. 18 adults with stomach, colorectal, or appendix cancer took part.
