First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 19, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a handheld ultrasound can measure muscle quality as well as a CT scan, but without radiation. Researchers compared images of the thigh muscle in 18 patients scheduled for hip replacement. The goal was to see if ultrasound could be a safe, easy way to check muscle health before surgery.
