Can a simple ultrasound replace CT for measuring muscle health?
NCT ID NCT04126161
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a handheld ultrasound can measure thigh muscle quality as well as a CT scan in 18 adults getting hip replacement. CT scans use radiation and can't be done often, while ultrasound is safe and easy to repeat. The goal was to see if ultrasound could be a good substitute for checking muscle health before surgery.
