Could short, intense workouts stop diabetes before it starts?

NCT ID NCT06143345

Summary

This study aimed to see if a specific type of exercise called high-intensity interval training (HIIT) could help lower blood sugar levels in adults with an early warning sign for diabetes. The plan was to enroll 34 inactive, overweight adults and have half do supervised HIIT workouts three times a week for eight weeks, while the other half did not change their activity. The main goal was to test if running the study was practical, and a secondary goal was to check for early signs that the exercise improved blood sugar control.
