New hope for chronic back pain? High-Voltage procedure tested
NCT ID NCT07303309
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested whether using a higher voltage (60 volts) during a pulsed radiofrequency treatment works better than a lower voltage (45 volts) for people with long-term back and leg pain caused by nerve issues. Twenty-two adults who had pain for at least 12 weeks and didn't get enough relief from other treatments took part. The procedure used a needle guided by X-ray to deliver short bursts of energy near the painful nerve, and the team measured pain levels, disability, and safety over about 6 weeks.
