Intensive multi-step treatment tested for aggressive childhood cancer

NCT ID NCT01175356

Summary

This study tested whether an intensive, multi-step treatment approach was feasible for children and young adults with newly diagnosed high-risk neuroblastoma. The treatment involved several rounds of chemotherapy, a targeted radiation therapy, a stem cell transplant, and ongoing maintenance therapy. The goal was to see if this aggressive combination could be safely given and help control this serious cancer.
