Heavy lifting may be key to calming painful knees in hypermobile young adults

NCT ID NCT06277401

First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at whether high-load resistance training (lifting heavy weights) can reduce knee pain better than usual care in young adults aged 18-45 who have loose joints (hypermobility) and persistent knee pain. About 90 participants will be randomly assigned to either a supervised heavy strength program or standard care for 12 weeks. The main goal is to see if the training group reports less pain during their most bothersome activity.
