Could a simple pill replace IV drips for ulcer bleeding?

NCT ID NCT04394663

First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study is for people who have had a bleeding stomach ulcer that was successfully treated with an endoscope. The purpose is to see if taking a high-dose oral medication (omeprazole) is as good as the standard continuous IV medication (pantoprazole) at preventing the ulcer from bleeding again. About 128 adults will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatments, and researchers will monitor rebleeding rates and stomach acid levels.
