First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tests a high-dose anesthetic cream (lidocaine-tetracaine) for chronic nerve pain in 30 older adults (60+) who haven't gotten relief from other pain medications. Participants apply the cream or a placebo twice daily for 14 days, then switch treatments after a 30-day break. The goal is to see if the cream reduces pain and helps people return to daily activities they've given up due to pain.
