High-Intensity workouts show promise for Parkinson's patients
NCT ID NCT07163663
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tested whether a high-intensity functional training (HIFT) program could improve both thinking and physical abilities in people with Parkinson's disease. Fifteen participants with early-stage Parkinson's completed the program, which included strength and coordination exercises. Researchers measured changes in walking, balance, memory, and quality of life.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- high-intensity functional training (HIFT) exercise program
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a simple exercise program that helps people with Parkinson's stay mentally sharp and physically active.
- What could go wrong
- This was a very small study (15 people) with no control group, so results may not apply widely. Exercise programs can be hard to stick with long-term.
