New breathing device may prevent oxygen drops in obese patients during stomach exams
NCT ID NCT07159022
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a high-flow nasal cannula (a device that delivers warm, moist oxygen through the nose) works better than a standard face mask to prevent low oxygen levels during a sedated stomach scope. It involves 200 adults with visceral obesity (belly fat) who are at higher risk for breathing problems during the procedure. The goal is to see if the nasal cannula keeps oxygen levels safer from start to finish.
