New breathing method may reduce need for breathing tubes in chest trauma patients

NCT ID NCT05828030

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 26 times

Summary

This study tests whether a high flow nasal cannula (a device that delivers oxygen through the nose) works better than a face mask for people with chest injuries who have low oxygen levels. About 100 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two devices. The goal is to see if the nasal cannula reduces the need for a breathing tube or pneumonia.
