Could a homemade herbal rinse beat the gold standard for gum disease?

NCT ID NCT07401069

First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study compares a homemade herbal mouthwash to chlorhexidine, the standard treatment, for controlling plaque buildup in people with gingivitis (early gum disease). The goal is to find a safer alternative with fewer side effects. Twelve adults with plaque-induced gingivitis will use one of the two mouthwashes, and researchers will measure plaque levels and gum bleeding after treatment.
