Summary
This study aimed to understand how common hepatitis E infection is in people who have received organ transplants. Researchers compared 447 transplant recipients with people waiting for transplants to see if the virus behaves differently in those taking immunosuppressant medications. The goal was to determine if chronic hepatitis E infection might become a significant health concern for transplant patients in the United States.
