First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study tested whether a dressing soaked with heparin, a common blood thinner, could prevent thick, raised scars and reduce pain at the site where skin is taken for a graft. 400 patients each had two donor sites—one treated with standard care and one with heparin. The results showed that heparin dressings improved healing and reduced scarring over three months.
