Blood thinner patients get ultrasound after muscle test to spot hidden bleeding

NCT ID NCT07166302

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study checks whether a common nerve test called needle EMG is safe for people taking blood thinners (DOACs). About 30 minutes after the test, researchers use ultrasound to look for small muscle bleeds (hematomas) where the needle went in. The goal is to see if the risk of bleeding is low enough to consider the procedure safe for these patients. 70 adults on daily DOACs will take part.
