Can a simple hearing device keep veterans out of the ER?

Summary
This study tests whether giving a personal hearing amplifier to Veterans who have trouble hearing in the emergency room can help them understand their discharge instructions better and reduce the chance of returning to the ER within 3 or 30 days. About 1,050 Veterans from six VA emergency departments will take part. The study also looks at whether ER staff can successfully run this program on their own.
