Could a simple pump change make baby heart surgery safer?
NCT ID NCT07393243
Summary
This study is testing whether using clear fluids instead of donated blood products to fill the heart-lung bypass machine reduces harmful inflammation after surgery. Researchers will enroll 60 babies (1-18 months old) who need surgery to repair a hole in their heart. They'll compare inflammation markers and recovery times between babies who receive the standard blood-based pump fluid versus those who receive the clear fluid alternative.
