Could a simple pump change speed up baby heart surgery recovery?
NCT ID NCT07393243
Summary
This study is testing whether using clear fluids instead of donated blood to fill the heart-lung machine during surgery reduces harmful inflammation in babies. It will involve 60 infants, aged 1 to 18 months, who need surgery to repair a hole in their heart. Researchers will compare recovery times and measure inflammation markers in babies who receive the standard blood-based fluid versus the clear fluid.
