Bleeding disorder may protect hearts: new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06706206

Summary

This study aims to understand why people with hemophilia (a bleeding disorder) are 40% less likely to die from heart disease than the general population. Researchers will use a new, highly detailed type of heart scan to compare plaque buildup in the arteries of 80 men with hemophilia against scans from men without it. The goal is to see if having less blood-clotting factor actually protects the heart, which could lead to better heart disease prevention for everyone.
