Online grocery experiment aims to curb chronic disease through smarter food policies

NCT ID NCT07422922

First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 12 times

Summary

This study tests whether a set of healthy food policies—like taxes or warning labels on ultra-processed foods—can shift what people buy and eat in online grocery and restaurant settings. Researchers will enroll 300 adults who are not on SNAP and have incomes above 165% of the poverty level. The goal is to see if these policies reduce calories, sodium, saturated fat, and added sugars from unhealthy foods, which could help prevent chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
