Simple head tilt may make tough intubations easier, study finds
NCT ID NCT04716218
First seen Jan 31, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study looked at whether raising a patient's head and back (head-elevated position) helps doctors see the vocal cords better when using a video-laryngoscope in people with a simulated difficult airway. Sixty-four adults scheduled for surgery under general anesthesia took part. Researchers compared the head-elevated position to lying flat, measuring how much of the vocal cords could be seen and how easy intubation was.
