First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study aims to find immune markers that can predict whether a pregnant woman with a first-time HCMV infection will pass the virus to her unborn baby. Researchers will analyze blood samples from 90 pregnant women and newborns to see which immune responses are linked to lower transmission risk. No treatment is given; the goal is to improve risk assessment and guide future vaccine development.
