Blood protein may predict pneumonia survival in ICU patients
NCT ID NCT06993623
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a protein called heparin-binding protein (HBP) and certain platelet measurements can help doctors predict how well patients with ventilator-associated pneumonia will recover. Researchers will collect blood samples from 80 adults on ventilators who develop pneumonia and compare levels between those who survive and those who don't. The goal is to find better ways to guide treatment decisions for this serious infection.
