Pocket-Sized scanner could speed up breast cancer diagnosis in Low-Resource areas
NCT ID NCT06056843
First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether a small, portable ultrasound device can help health workers correctly tell the difference between harmless and cancerous breast lumps in women who had a positive breast exam. 150 women with suspicious lumps were scanned by trained nurses or medical officers, and the results were compared with standard tests like mammography or biopsy. The goal is to see if this simple tool can reduce unnecessary referrals and speed up care in places where expert doctors are scarce.
