Diet study hopes to boost brain health in rural seniors

NCT ID NCT06121986

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a Mediterranean or Mediterranean-keto diet can improve gut and brain health in older adults living in rural areas, some with mild memory problems. About 61 people aged 55-85 will follow one of these diets for 10 weeks, with follow-ups up to a year. Researchers will check diet adherence and measure gut bacteria and thinking skills to see if these diets help protect the brain.
