Could your gut bugs spot cancer? new test in development

NCT ID NCT06588166

Summary

This study aims to develop a new, non-invasive screening tool for colorectal cancer by analyzing the unique mix of bacteria in a person's gut. Researchers will collect stool samples from about 1,000 people aged 50-74 who have a positive result on a standard screening test. They will use computer algorithms to see if specific patterns of gut bacteria can accurately identify cancer or advanced pre-cancerous growths, potentially creating a more precise screening method.
