Missing appendix? study probes hidden gut risks of common colonoscopy prep

NCT ID NCT07478029

Summary

This study aims to understand how the laxative used to prepare for a colonoscopy affects the community of bacteria in the gut. Researchers will compare people who have had their appendix removed to those who still have it, tracking how their gut bacteria recover over six months after the procedure. The goal is to learn if the appendix plays a special role in helping gut bacteria bounce back from this common medical preparation.
